The 30-second pitch

AirDrop is great — until someone has an Android.

You know the moment: a phone full of photos, a folder of stems, a video that won't fit in a text — and the person next to you is on the wrong platform. So you fall back to the cloud: upload, wait, send a link, hope it doesn't expire, hope they have the account. Aura Drive is a tiny WiFi device that fixes it for everyone. Tap it, and it beams your files directly to any device on your network — iPhone to Android, Mac to PC, phone to laptop — at full local-WiFi speed. Nothing touches a server. The aura ring glows while it's moving.

How it works

Three taps. Any device. No cloud.

01

Plug it in

Aura Drive joins your WiFi and creates a private drop zone. The aura ring lights teal — ready.

02

Drop your files

Open the WavDrop app on any phone or laptop — iPhone, Android, Mac, PC — and send to Aura Drive. Big files, whole folders, no size cap.

03

Anyone grabs them

Anyone on the drop zone pulls the files instantly at local speed. The ring pulses purple while transferring, gold when it lands.

Why a device, not an app

Cloud is slow and nosy. AirDrop is walled off. This is neither.

What's inside

Small enough to clip on. Fast enough to forget the cloud.

📶

Local WiFi transfer

Files move device-to-device over your own network — full local speed, nothing uploaded to a server.

🌐

Truly cross-platform

iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux. If it has the WavDrop app or a browser, it can send and receive.

🚫

No accounts, no cloud

No sign-up, no expiring links, no "create a free account to download." Just drop and grab.

💍

Aura status ring

A 360° light ring: teal = ready, purple = transferring, gold = delivered. You can feel a drop land.

📁

Folders & big files

Send a whole set of stems, a shoot's worth of photos, a 4K clip — no size cap, no compression.

🔌

USB-C, all-day battery

Pocket-sized, USB-C charging, runs a drop zone all session. Clip it to a bag and go.

DJs and a crew sharing track files with Aura Drive
Made for crews

For DJs, producers, and anyone who moves big files in a room.

A DJ hands the next track to the booth. A producer drops stems to the whole session at once. A photographer offloads a card to three phones before they leave the shoot. Aura Drive started inside WavDrop — the app where crews already share music — because the slowest part of every collab was getting the actual files from one person to the next. So we built the thing that does it: instant, local, everyone-at-once.

Built by WavDrop

We didn't start with hardware. We started with a folder that wouldn't send.

WavDrop began as a place for DJs and producers to share tracks. The same problem kept surfacing in every session: the music was easy — the files were the bottleneck. AirDrop only worked for the Apple half of the room. The cloud meant uploading a gig of stems and waiting. Bluetooth was a joke for anything big.

So we built the missing piece in hardware. The ESP32 prototype works today — it joins WiFi, creates a drop zone, and the app talks to it. Backing this campaign funds the path from that working prototype to a manufacturable, audited product: enclosure tooling, a production board, and the polish that makes it feel like one tap.

Honest part

Risks & challenges

It's a prototype, not a finished product. The ESP32 build works — it joins WiFi, runs a drop zone, and pairs with the app — but it isn't the final hardware. Backing funds the path from working prototype to a manufacturable unit: enclosure, production board, firmware polish. We'll post monthly build updates with real photos, good news and bad.

Hardware timelines slip. Tooling, sourcing a production board, and a global supply chain move dates. We'll only commit to milestones we can photograph progress toward — and we'll show the prototype on camera before launch so you see exactly what exists today.

Cross-platform is the hard part. Getting one tap to work identically across iPhone, Android, and desktop is real engineering. The prototype proves the core transfer; funding hardens it across every platform.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does it really work between iPhone and Android?

That's the whole point. Aura Drive moves files over WiFi to any device running the WavDrop app (or a browser) — iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux. No platform lock-in like AirDrop.

Do my files go to the cloud?

No. Transfers happen device-to-device over your own WiFi. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so there's no link to expire and nobody else can see your drop.

How big a file can I send?

No hard size cap — whole folders of stems, a shoot's worth of photos, 4K clips. It moves at local WiFi speed, not upload speed.

Is there a working unit, or just renders?

There's a working ESP32 prototype today — it joins WiFi, creates the drop zone, and the app talks to it. The product photos on this page are concept renders; we'll swap in real footage of the prototype before the Kickstarter launches.

Do I need a WavDrop account?

No account needed to share. The WavDrop app is the easiest way to send and receive, and a drop zone works for anyone on it — no sign-up to grab a file.

When does it ship?

Timelines firm up at launch. We'll only commit to dates we can show progress toward, and the prototype reaching manufacturable hardware is exactly what funding covers.
